‘Chinese Susan Boyle’ Channels Whitney Houston, Becomes Internet Star

Just a few days after video of a young man singing a pitch-perfect version of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” on a Chinese reality show hit YouTube, the contestant is already being called “The Chinese Susan Boyle.”

Like the Scottish singing sensation, who shocked the judges of “Britain’s Got Talent” and the world with her perfect rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream” almost exactly a year ago, Lin Yu Chun has come seemingly out of nowhere.

But unlike Boyle, who sang the song with her own style and in her native language, this young man’s song is a near-perfect sound-alike of Whitney Houston’s original, with barely a hint of an accent!

As this video rolls around the world on the Web (the video already has over 150,000 views, and searches for “Lin Yu Chun” have gone up over 200% in the past 24 hours), expect to see this guy become an international sensation. (An appearance on an American morning show is almost certainly in his future!)

Even if singing competitions aren’t your thing, you have to admire the technical prowess that the baby-faced, bowl-cut-wearing Chun displays: How often can a male of any age (no reports have been given about his exact age; he’s believed to be in his teens) sound exactly like a female pop star singing one of the most demanding songs in the karaoke catalog?

Compare Chun’s version with Whitney Houston’s original, and be amazed:
